What: Biblical Interpretation: The Gospel of Mark
When: Saturdays: August 29, September 26, October 24
Time: 10-4 each gathering

The purpose of the course is to gain an understanding of the Gospel of Mark in its historical context. The primary approach to Mark will be a passage-by-passage examination of the Gospel. In addition, the course will consider the Synoptic Problem, the literary structure and purpose of the Gospel, and major themes of the Gospel, especially Mark’s understanding of Jesus as the Son of God who must suffer, along with the concurrent themes of faith and discipleship.

- Bible in a modern translation
- Edwards, James R., The Gospel According to Mark, Pillar New Testament Commentary (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 2002).
